Chapter 14: Thank You For The Venom

*Warning: Contains strong language, bloody violence & some sensuality*

At Merlotte’s Bar & Grill, Sam is sitting in his office, in front of his desk, looking over some bills that he had to pay. The door suddenly shut and Sam spun around in his chair. He noticed Summer standing in front of him. She sure was sneaky, he thought, but since she was a vampire now, he had to get use to that fact. He also couldn’t help notice how beautiful she was. She was always beautiful but now that she’s a vampire, there is a glow about her. Her skin is flawless with a hint of some color in her face, which meant she fed not too long ago. He also loved her new shorter do, it brought out the nice shape of her face. It kind of made her look more dangerous and sexy.

Summer: I’m sorry to have snuck up on you. It’s a habit.

Sam: That’s alright. What’s wrong?

Summer: I just wanted to apologize for the other night.

Sam: It’s alright. You don’t have to apologize.

Summer: Damn it, Sam! Why don’t you just let me apologize? I had no excuse for what I done. Vampire or not.

Sam: He was probably going to kill one of us. You were doing everyone a favor.

Summer: I never killed anyone before. I was extremely upset after I had done it, but the next day I didn’t even care anymore. It makes me sick that I feel that way.

Sam: At least he wasn’t an innocent person. That has to make you feel…somewhat better.

Summer: What I did was wrong. End of discussion.

Sam: So how has Eric been treatin’ ya?

Summer: I hate the fact that I have to obey him. It really sucks. (Laughing) Sucks, that’s funny.

Sam: What is he making you do?

Summer: He ordered me to go to this Halloween party at the Queen’s house this weekend. I really don’t want to go.

Sam: Why not? You might have fun.

Summer: Ha! Why don’t you come with me then?

Sam: Sorry, but I don’t mix well with vampires.

Summer: Yeah, I forgot you’re a shifter. They really don’t like your kind. But I like you.

Sam: Well I’m glad.

Summer: I probably should be going before Pam squeals on me to Eric. I’m not supposed to leave Fangtasia. I just wanted to stop by and apologize.

Sam: Apology accepted.

He stood up out of his chair and walked over to her, reaching out for the door knob to help her out. Even though she didn’t need any help.

Sam: And there was NO EXCUSE for what you did (trying to sound angry and disappointed)

Summer: You really suck at acting. But thanks for trying.

Sam: Are you going to say hi to your sister?

Summer: I probably shouldn’t. But how’s Jason?

Sam: He’s good. His back isn't feelin' too great, so they gave him some meds.

Summer: At least he’s okay. Bye.

She leaned in and planted her lips on his cheek. The color of his cheeks turned almost blood red. He flashed her a smile as she quickly left through the back entrance. Once she was out the door, he stepped back inside his office and closed the door behind him.

Later back at Fangtasia, Summer quietly strolled down the hallway where the back entrance was. Pam popped out in front her with her arms folded.

Pam: And where did you wander off to?

Summer: You’re not my mother. I don’t have to check in with you.

Pam: Cute. Very cute. I like your new attitude and all, but Eric wants to see you in his office.

Summer: (rolling her eyes and sighing) Fine.

She stomped passed Pam and flung open the door to Eric’s office. As she stepped inside, Eric glanced up at her from his desk and flashed her a grin. She slammed the door shut behind her and stomped over to the couch, plopping down onto it, arms folded.

Eric: In another one of your moods I see.

Summer: Yeah my “I don’t really give a shit” mood.

Eric: (snickering) You amuse me.

Summer: I’m glad somebody is getting a kick out of me being dead.

Eric: Seriously, loose the attitude. You’d be in the ground if it wasn’t for me.

Summer: Don’t tease me. That’s cruel.

Eric: You left the bar. Why?

Summer: Well dad… (Interrupted)

Eric: That’s cute. A real comedian. Now where did you go?

Summer: I went by Merlotte’s to apologize to Sam.

Eric: Should have known. A sympathetic vampire. Now that’s a new one.

Eric stood up from behind his desk and slowly walked around his desk, making his way over to the leather couch. He sat down next to Summer and placed his hand on her leg. She grabbed his hand and moved it over onto his leg. He scooted over closer to her, turned slightly, and moved her hair away from her neck. Softly he pressed his cold lips onto her neck. She closed her eyes tightly with arousal and wanted to fight it, but it just felt so good. He continued kissing her up and down her neck. Even though she loved the feeling of him kissing her, she was still angry with him. She pushed him away and quickly made her way over to the door. Quicker than a flash, Eric was behind her. As she tried to open the door, he extended out his arm and pushed the door closed. She spun around and he pushed her up against the door with his body. He leaned down, placed both hands on her face, lifting her head up towards him and planted his lips onto hers. They began kissing passionately. He moved his hands down her spine and under her buttocks. He lifted her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. They continued kissing as he turned around and made his way over to his desk. He held onto her tightly as he leaned down and pushed everything off his desk. Papers, pens, keyboard and some other items fell onto the floor. He placed her down onto his desk and leaned down, continuing to kiss her. Her legs were up where his waist was and her hands starting pulling down his gray suit jack from off his shoulders. He lifted her up and placed his hands on her waist and began lifting up her top. She raised her arms in the air as he lifted the white tank top up. He then began to unzip the back of her black, tight, thigh high skirt. She leaned back and straightened out her legs as he began pulling down the skirt down to her ankles and pulling it off over her black, 6 inch lace-up ribbon pumps. She grabbed him by his white dress shirt and pulled him towards her. As he stood still, in-between her legs, she un-buttoned his white dress shirt and then pulled it down off his shoulders. Next she unzipped and unbuttoned his pants. The grey dress pants fell down to his ankles. He leaned down and began kissing her. He laid his body down on top of her and as he lifted his head up, his fangs popped out from the excitement. She tilted her head to the side, flashing him her neck. He quickly sunk his fangs into her neck. Summer bit her bottom lip from the pleasure of feeling him feeding from her. His tongue lapping the blood that oozed from her neck. He lifted up his head from her neck and she snaked her hand behind his head and pulled his face towards hers. She licked the blood from his lips and began kissing him passionately.

That weekend, at the Northman mansion, Summer was in Eric’s room going through her new closet. Yes, her own closet full of brand new clothes and shoes. She pulled out a dress still inside the plastic liner, bent down to grab some shoes and headed into the bathroom. Eric entered the room just as she stepped into the bathroom. He formed a sneaky grin on his face and quickly took off his pants and shirt, flinging them onto the bed.

A few minutes later, Summer was standing under the shower head, getting her hair soak and wet. She felt a presence with her in the shower and quickly spun around. Eric was standing in front of her, butt naked. He had a smirky grin on his face, as he always does.

Summer: You are so bad.

Eric: You know it.

He moved closer to her, leaned down and kissed her. They continued kissing each other while standing under the running shower head.

A half hour later, Summer was standing in front of the mirror in her black, lacy panties and black lacy bra. She had the curling iron plugged in and make-up set up on the long counter. Eric stepped out of the shower and wrapped a clean down around his waist. He stared at Summer as she stood in front of the mirror, getting ready to fix her hair.

Eric: I think you need to go to the party like that.

Summer: You wish.

Eric: Or maybe we should just skip out on the party and stay here.

Summer: Wouldn’t you get in trouble? (Curling her hair)

Eric: You’re right. But you’re worth it.

Summer: Go get ready. And just remember that this was your idea.

As he passed by her, she grabbed his towel, yanking it off his waist.

Summer: Nice butt.

Eric: Now who’s bad?

He stepped out of the bathroom and into the bedroom to get ready for the party, while Summer stayed in the bathroom, curling her hair.

A half hour later, Summer stepped out of the bathroom wearing a sparkly, blue dress, with her 4.5 inch rhinestone sandal shoes, that had a ribbon that wrapped around her ankle. Her hair was wavy and her make-up was of light colors. Eric had on a dark gray suit jack with a black shirt underneath and black dress pants.

As they stepped out into the hallway, Pam stepped out of her room wearing a tight, red knee-length dress. Her hair was wavy and her makeup was a little darker than Summer’s.

Pam: Wow, you two look sexy.

Eric: Let’s go. We don’t want to be late. Damn us if we’re late.

Summer: Too late for that one.

Later at the Queen’s large mansion, there are tons of people gathered around in each room either talking to one another or dancing to the music in the background. Summer stepped inside with Eric. The party wasn’t exactly what she expected. Really she didn’t know exactly what to expect. Vampires didn’t really party like mortals do. They seem to really enjoy Halloween though. There were a few people dressed in costumes, but they were most likely fang bangers desperately trying to please their Vampire in some odd way. Eric latched his hand around Summer’s and led her through the party room, down a long hallway and outside to a smaller house, surrounded by water. They walked across a bridge-type pathway towards the front entrance. Two Vampires in black suits and black sunglasses stood on opposite ends of the entrance in a stance, arms crosses. The men looked identical. Must be twins. Summer tried to read their thoughts but all they thought about was protecting the Queen at all costs.

Eric: Tell the Queen we have arrived.

The man on the left nodded and headed inside. The other man stood staring down Summer and Eric, making sure they didn’t make the wrong move. After a few minutes, the man opened the door, and waved them in. Eric, still holding onto Summer’s hand, led her inside. As they stepped inside, Summer noticed the Queen lying across a white scroll-end couch on the other side of the pool. A young female, a little younger than Summer, sat on the floor by her side. Summer stared at the young woman intensely because she looked familiar. The Queen noticed them and formed a big smile on her face.

Queen Sophie: I’m glad you could make it.

Eric: Your party seems like a hit this year.

Queen Sophie: They’re a hit every year. (Noticing Summer) Well, hello.

The Queen stared at Summer long and hard and formed a big smile on her face.

Queen Sophie: Well come over here and say, hi. I won’t bite….hard.

Eric motioned Summer to oblige the Queen. Summer rolled her eyes and walked around the pool and over to Queen Sophie-Anne.

Queen Sophie: Sit down next to me.

Sophie swung her legs down onto the floor and patted the sofa next to her, motioning Summer to sit down. Summer glanced at Eric and then sat down slowly next to Queen Sophie-Anne. The Queen looked at Summer up and down, checking her out.

Queen Sophie: Andre was right. You are very pretty. Too bad you’re with him (glancing at Eric).

Summer noticed the young girl dangling her feet in the pool. She wasn’t even worried about the Queen at the moment. This girl was the focus of her attention. She just seemed so familiar.

Queen Sophie: Eric, you did well with this one.

Eric: Thank you, my queen. You’re so kind.

Queen Sophie: I’ve heard about you. You and your sister are very special and that means a lot coming from our kind.

The Queen couldn’t help but notice that Summer was a little distracted.

Queen Sophie: Hadley, why don’t you go party with everyone else.

Hadley: Okay.

Hadley lifted her legs up out of the pool water and stood up on her feet. Summer realized that Hadley was her cousin. She watched as Hadley walked around the pool and out the door.

Summer: What the hell is my cousin doing here?

Queen Sophie: She’s mine. Just like you're Mr. Northman’s.

Summer: People are not property. I really don't care who you are or what you are, at that matter. The matter of the fact is, that is my cousin. I haven’t heard from her in years. I thought maybe she was dead somewhere.

Eric: Summer! (Getting angry)

Queen Sophie: It is okay, Eric. I like her spunk.

The Queen turned to her side and scooted over closer to Summer. Quicker than a blink, she wrapped her hand around Summer’s throat and had her pinned down on the couch. Her fangs were out and so were Summer’s.

Queen Sophie: But I don’t like attitude. You should learn to obey me. I can snap you like a twig.

Summer: Then do it, because I’m not scared of you.

Queen Sophie could tell that Summer wasn’t remotely scared. Summer looked as if she was ready to throw it down with the Queen. Sophie leaned down, still gripping Summer’s neck and planted her lips onto Summer’s. After a few seconds, the Queen lifted up her head, withdrew her hand from around Summer’s neck and got up on her feet. Her fangs now retracted and with a happy glance. Summer sat up and almost stared a hole in the back of Sophie’s head. She wasn’t exactly for sure what to expect of Queen Sophie, but she was ready for whatever was coming her way. The Queen waved Andre over and he escorted her out of the dayroom. Eric walked around the pool and over towards Summer. Summer’s fangs were still out as she stared intensely at the entrance. Eric sat down next to her on the scroll-end couch and placed his hand on her shoulder. She instantly snapped out of her trance, retracting her fangs and turning her head to glance at Eric.

Eric: You really shouldn’t anger her.

Summer: I can deal with her.

Eric: Summer, please… (Interrupted)

Summer: Can we just go back to the party?

She stood up and walked around the pool with Eric following her closely behind. They stepped out of the Queen’s dayroom, down the pathway towards the mansion. As they stepped inside the mansion, everyone was dancing and having fun. The lights were dim and the smell in the air was sweet. Summer walked through the crowd of people and as she reached the other side of the room, she ran into Lucian from Georgia.

Lucian: Well hello again. I was wondering when I would be enlightened with your presence.

Summer: Are you following me?

Lucian: (snickering) No. All vampires of some importance or another are invited to the Queen’s party.

Summer: So if she says jump, everyone just jumps?

Lucian: Pretty much.

Summer: That’s sad. Surely it is.

Lucian: You need to be careful, because the Queen doesn’t like it when you don’t abide by her every whim.

Summer: Well then she’ll just have to end me then, because I’m nobody’s bitch.

Lucian: (snickering) Damn. You really don’t like authority figures.

Summer: You can say that.

Lucian: Well where’s your Viking?

Summer: Around somewhere. He’s probably looking for me.

Lucian: So what’s the story between you two?

Summer: Why does it matter?

Lucian: Just curious. You don’t seem to like authority figures, but yet you’re with one of the oldest vampires in Louisiana, who just happens to be a sheriff.

Summer: What about you? If you’re at this party, then you must be of some importance. What is your importance?

Lucian: Changing the subject I see. But I figured you would eventually ask. I am the King of Georgia.

Summer: Seriously? How come you don’t have any body guards like the rest of them?

Lucian: I don’t need any. I’m almost 2,000 years old. I can protect myself without any problems.

Summer: Nobody here seems to acknowledge you as King.

Lucian: That’s because they don’t know what I look like. Also, my king name isn’t my real name.

Summer: Then what is your king name then?

Lucian: Julian Drakos.

An older male, wearing a black suit, and very pale skin approached them.

Male: Did you say Drakos was here?

Lucian: As a matter of fact I did. He’s around here somewhere.

Male: Nobody has ever seen him in person before. I’m going to have to tell this to the Queen.

Before Lucian could respond, the man disappeared into the crowd of dancing people.

Summer: Well that was odd. But I’ve seen worse.

Lucian: Would you like to dance?

Summer: I should probably try and find Eric.

Lucian: Believe me, he knows where you are.

Summer: It was nice running into you and all, but I should start looking for him.

Lucian: If you must.

Summer then turned around and pushed her way through the crowd of dancing people. Lucian formed a devilish grin on his face. He turned around and made his way down the hall and into the large kitchen. Eric suddenly appeared in front of him.

Lucian: Well there you are.

Eric: Where is Summer?

Lucian: She just went looking for you actually.

Eric: I know your game. You may have her fooled but not me. Trust me, I’ve seen it all.

Lucian: I’m sure you have. But I’ve seen more.

Eric: I don’t have time for this.

Lucian: She likes me, you know.

Eric: I doubt that.

Lucian: She doesn’t seem to like you very much. I sense that she despises you.

Eric: You may want to watch what you say next.

Lucian: What are you going to do about it, Viking?

Eric: You’re either very bold or very dumb.

Lucian: You may be bigger and taller than me, but what I lack in physical stature, I make up for in the bedroom. Maybe that’s why Summer is drawn to me. Do you not know how to pleasure your woman, Viking?

Faster than a blink, Eric had Lucian pinned up against the wall with his fangs out. His arm pressed up underneath Lucian’s throat. Lucian didn’t flinch. He just stared Eric dead in the eye with a big grin on his face.

Eric: You are really starting to piss me off, but I’m beginning to think that’s your plan.

Lucian: Do it already, Viking, or do you not know how? (Beginning to snicker)

Eric: If Summer wanted you, then she wouldn’t be looking for me now would she?

Lucian: She’ll come to her senses. I already have her where I want her.

Eric: You better be thankful we’re in the Queen’s residence or else I would end you.

Lucian: Somebody is sensitive.

Eric pulled his arm away from Lucian’s neck, retracted his fangs and stepped out of the kitchen. Lucian formed an evil grin on his face.

Meanwhile, Summer noticed Jessica and Hoyt dancing with one another in the middle of the living room area.

Summer: Hey, Jessica, have you seen Eric?

Jessica: Nope.

Jessica and Hoyt weren’t really paying any attention to Summer. They probably didn’t even realize it was her. Since her death, nobody has really seen her as the undead except her sister, Sam and some of the late nighters at Merlotte’s the other night. Summer decided to just walk away from them and try to find Eric on her own. She ended up stepping out of the back and across the bridge pathway that led to the Queen’s day room. She pushed the door open and noticed that some of the vampires and their fang bangers had made it into the room since she’s been in there with the Queen. Summer scanned the room and didn’t notice Eric around. As she turned around, she suddenly realized that she noticed a familiar face in the room, that wasn’t Eric. She spun back around and noticed the back door was now wide open. Thinking it was nothing, she reached out for the knob on the door when she heard a disturbing thought, “Die Fangers”. There then was a loud scream, followed by another. Summer spun around and noticed a woman covered in blood and guts on the floor below her. Another body was floating face down in the pool. She heard another thought, louder than the one she heard before. Quickly she spun around and punched the guy in the face. The man had on military fatigues and black face paint smeared across his face and had a silver chain in his hand. Another guy grabbed her from behind and before he could respond, Summer had him up in the air by his throat. Her fangs were out from anger. The man struggled trying to get free, but her hand was gripped too tight around his neck. The other man tried to attack her but she grabbed him with her free hand, gripping tightly around his throat and then snapped his neck. She let go and his body fell to the floor, lifeless. There were more screams coming from outside, along with gun shots. Summer lost interest in the man she had in her grasp and threw him into the pool next to her. Quicker than a flash, Summer was outside the dayroom and across the pathway. She noticed lots of blood and body parts lying on the grass. Apparently it was a result of being staked. Whoever was doing this, sure knew what they were doing.

Meanwhile, Eric was inside, scurrying through the crowd of screaming people, while he was still looking for Summer’s whereabouts. He ran into the next room, which was the dining room, to get away from the crowd of people. Nobody was around. A muscular, average height man, wearing military fatigues and black face paint appeared behind him, with a silver chain stretched out in both hands ready to strike. Eric’s fangs popped out and he turned around, lunging at the man. He grabbed him and sunk his fangs into the guy’s throat. After draining the guy of his blood, he let the body fall to the floor below him. Eric licked the blood from his lips when another man, appearing behind him, stuck a needle into his throat, injecting him with a silver substance. Immediately Eric fell to the floor, unconscious. The man, who injected Eric, stood over him. It was none other than Steve Newlin, the Reverend of the Light of Day Institute. One of the other fatigued dressed men ran into the room, noticing Eric on the floor by Steve’s feet.

Man: You got him (sounding shocked)

Steve: I told you I could. It was actually easier than I thought. Vampires can be so stupid. Now I want you to take him out to the van.

Man: But he’s big.

Steve: Then find someone who can help you.

Man: Okay.

A little bit later, Summer was inside the mansion and immediately stopped in her tracks. She felt as though something had happened to Eric. Quicker than the rewind button, Summer went through the front door and outside. She noticed fatigue dressed men hop inside the van and close the doors. In the passenger seat, she noticed Steve Newlin, whom was staring directly at her. Before she could get to the van, it sped off down the road.

To Be Continued…
