Chapter 10: Already Gone

*Warning: Contains bad language*

Sam had a terrified and concerned look on his face, as he noticed Summer lying flat on her stomach, on the floor below, soaked in her own blood. Lafayette was kneeling down towards her and trying to see if she was still alive. Summer’s eyes slowly flickered open and she tried to speak.

Summer: I’m so cold (in a low voice)

Lafayette: (noticing her blood soaked back) Sam, she’s not looking too good.

Sam folded his arms and contemplated on what he should do. Should he call an ambulance or should he wait another hour for the sun to settle so that Eric could heal her? The ambulance sounded better to him, but he didn’t know how long she had been lying on his kitchen floor or how bad her wounds really were. What if the doctors couldn’t save her? That was the main question on his mind. Sam got on his knees and leaned down towards Summer’s face. He looked into her eyes and knew that she didn’t have much life left in her.

Sam: Can you move?

Summer: No (barely able to speak)

Sam: Lafayette, help me lift her up.

Sam slowly placed his hands on her shoulders and slowly flipped her over onto her back. She flinched in pain, feeling a shooting pain up and down her spine. Lafayette slid his arms under her legs and Sam had his hands under her arms. Together they lifted her up and slowly carried her out of the kitchen and down the hallway towards his office. Sam kicked opened his office door and backed into his office, still helping to carry Summer into the room. He then realized that there was nothing to lay her down on. In the corner, propped up against the wall, was a cot.

Sam: Lafayette, go get the cot over there in the corner.

Lafayette: What about Summer?

Sam: I got her.

Lafayette let her legs gently fall to the floor and Sam slid his hands under her knees to pick her up and hold her in his arms. Sam noticed that Summer was in pain, because her face showed it when he moved her. Lafayette walked over to the corner of the room and grabbed the cot. He walked over towards Sam and laid the cot down. Sam slowly, laid Summer onto the cot.

Lafayette: Now what? Do we call the ambulance? That’s a lot of damn blood.

Sam glanced down at his hands and noticed they were covered in blood. He thought for a moment, but didn’t know which solution was the right one. A part of him wanted him to call 9-1-1, but the other part of him wanted him to wait till sunset for Eric.

Lafayette: Damn, it boy, what’s it gonna be? She doesn’t have a lot of damn time (sounding worried)

Sam: Damn it, Lafayette! Give me some time to think! (Getting agitated)

He slumped back into his desk chair, in front of Summer’s cot, and tried thinking of what to do. Summer turned her head, slightly, looking at him.

Summer: No hospital, please (barely able to speak)

Lafayette: Sweetness, you’re fuckin’ crazy. I think the blood loss has made you delusional.

Summer: I don’t want to go (in a low voice)

Sam: What would you have me do? (Grabbing Summer’s hand)

Summer: Wait for Eric.

Sam lowered his head and then reached into his back pocket, pulling out his cell phone. He dialed Eric’s number and held the phone up against his right ear.

Sam: Eric, once the sun sets, you need to get your dead ass over here quick.

He flipped the cell phone closed and tossed it onto the desk behind him. He grasped a hold of Summer’s hand, trying to give her some comfort. Summer gave him a slight smile.

Summer: Can you call Sookie for me? We had a fight… (Interrupted)

Sam: Sure, no problem. (Looking at Lafayette) Lafayette, can you call her for me?

Lafayette: Sure.

Lafayette walked out of the room to call Sookie. Sam sat by Summer’s side to keep her company while they waited.

Sam: Who did this to you?

Summer: The new girl. She was James’ girlfriend.

Sam: I should have known that girl was up to no good (sounding upset and angry at the same time)

Summer: It wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t have known. If anyone is to blame, it’s me. I should have read her thoughts.

Sam: I am so sorry (tear rolling down his cheek)

Sam felt horrible for hiring Lee so quickly. He felt like he should of waited, but he was in desperate need of another waitress. He couldn’t believe that his irresponsibleness caused his employee and long-time friend to be severely injured. If she were to die, then he would feel horrible. He might even do something drastic and go kill that bitch, Lee Shaw, himself. Lafayette then entered the room.

Lafayette: Sookie is on her way. I didn’t exactly tell her what was wrong.

Sam: Okay, thanks.

Twenty minutes later, Sookie ran through the front door of the bar with Jason following right behind her. She ran through the bar area and straight into Sam’s office. As she stepped into the room, she stopped in her tracks and nearly lost her breath as she noticed her twin sister lying on the cot, almost as pale as a ghost from the loss of blood. Sookie rushed to her side, and plopped down on her knees next to the cot. She grabbed Summer’s hand and a tear rolled down her cheek.

Sookie: Hey, Summer, I’m here (upset)

Summer: Hey, sis (smiling slightly) I am so sorry about the fight we had (in a low voice)

Sookie: (more tears rolling down her face) It’s okay. Don’t worry about that now. Are you in lots of pain right now?

Summer: A little bit. Not like before.

Jason stepped into the room and gasped as he noticed Summer lying on the cot next to Sookie. He quickly walked over and kneeled down on the other side of the cot.

Jason: What the hell happened to you?

Sam: Lee happened?

Jason: What? Who the hell is that?

Sam: The new waitress I hired. She had attacked Summer from behind, stabbing her in the back numerous times.

Jason: Well where the hell is that bitch?! (Angry)

Sam: Not sure. We don’t know how long Summer was lying on the kitchen floor.

Jason grabbed her other hand and his eyes widened as he felt the temperature of her hand. It was cold. Not ice cold, but pretty cold. Her palm was clammy and her face was white, which wasn’t her everyday base tan complexion. He then stroked her hair to try to comfort her. She looked up at him and gave him a faint smile.

Jason: Hey, sis.

Summer: Hey, Jay (in a low voice)

Jason: You’re going to be okay.

Sam: I need to speak with you two out in the hallway.

Sookie: We can’t just leave her in here (upset)

Sam: Lafayette will stay here with her.

Lafayette: Of course.

Sookie and Jason followed Sam’s lead out of his office and into the hallway. Sam grabbed the office door knob and slowly closed it behind him. Jason and Sookie stood, uneasy, waiting for Sam to speak.

Jason: Well what the hell do you want to talk to us about? (Frustrated)

Sookie: Jason, don’t be so rude.

Jason: Sorry. I’m just upset and angry right now. Sorry, Sam.

Sam: That’s quite alright. I was wondering what you two wanted to do about this situation. It’s been bothering me for a bit now. Should we call the ambulance or what?

Sookie: They won’t be able to do anything for her. She looks pretty serious.

Jason: Are you fuckin’ crazy? That’s our sister in there. She’s dying, Sookie!! She needs to go to the hospital.

Sookie: Then they’ll have to perform surgery on her and who knows if she’ll even survive that. She might be bleeding on the inside. Don’t you ever think? (Getting angry)

Jason: Then tell me what we’re supposed to do, since you think you’re smarter than me.

Sookie: We wait for Eric.

Jason: Oh, you are fuckin’ crazy.

Sookie: He’ll be able to heal her and we won’t have to worry about any surgeries or having to explain to the police why she was stabbed.

Jason: Why was she stabbed anyways?

Sam: Revenge. Summer had killed her boyfriend.

Jason: Summer? (Confused)

Sam: I’ll explain it to you later. For now, we just need to concentrate on Summer.

Sam then turned around and turned the door knob. He pushed the door open and stepped inside. Jason and Sookie followed him inside and all sat by her side, waiting for Eric to show up.

Later, Eric rushed through the front door of Merlotte’s bar like a wind just blew through. He sensed that Summer was close by and ran down the hallway and barging into Sam’s office. As he appeared in the room, he noticed everyone hovered by Summer’s side. Sookie looked up at him with tears rolling down her face.

Sookie: Help her, please (crying)

Jason moved over slightly, so that Eric could kneel down next to her. As Eric was on her knees, he scanned Summer’s body and noticed the bloody towels under her back. Her face was almost as white as snow and her eyes were barely open. He could smell and sense that she was close to death.

Jason: Well go ahead and heal her already.

Eric: Everyone leave the room, right now.

Jason: Like hell we are.

Eric: If you want your sister to live, then you will leave now (giving Jason a serious look)

Jason got up onto his feet and helped Sookie up off the floor. He held her hand and escorted her out of the office. Sam slowly stood up out of his desk chair and glanced down at Summer. He then followed Lafayette out of the office and closed the door behind him. Everyone walked into the bar and sat down in the chairs, waiting for some good news.

Several minutes later, Eric slowly walked into the bar area with his head down low. Sam was leaning up against the bar, while Sookie and Jason sat in one of the empty booths. She was laying her head on Jason’s shoulder with tears rolling down her face.

Sam: So did you heal her (approaching Eric)

Eric: I could not.

Sam: What? (Confused)

Eric: She is too near death for me to heal her.

Sookie pushed Jason and he slid out of the booth. She slid out and maneuvered her way quickly around the table and chairs to get to Eric.

Sookie: You go in there and heal her right now you son-of-a-bitch!!

Eric: I can not.

Sookie: Please, help her. I know you can help her! Please!(More tears rolling down her face)

Jason: I told you we should of taking her to the fuckin’ hospital.

Sookie: I can’t loose my sister. If she dies, then I die. We’ve lost so many already (upset)

Jason feeling angry pushed through the chairs near him and charged Eric grabbing a hold of his black shirt.

Jason: Go in there and heal her right now!!

Eric: Let go of me, human.

Jason: Not until you heal her.

Eric grabbed Jason’s wrist and twisted it, causing Jason to flinch in pain. He then pushed Jason, sending him flying back and falling onto the floor. Sookie rushed over to him to make sure he was okay. She then looked up at Eric, upset and angry by what he just did.

Eric: I warned him.

Sookie: You didn’t have to hurt him.

Eric: Well he didn’t have to touch me. (Pause) He will live. I could have done much worse.

Sam: So I guess we call the ambulance then.

Eric: The doctors won’t be able to help her.

Sam: So are you saying that we just let her die?

Sam couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He wouldn’t let her just die. There had to be another way. Then he thought that maybe Eric didn’t want to save her. He had to find out.

Sam: Are you lying to us?

Eric: Why would I lie to you? I have no reason to lie.

Sam: It seems to me like you don’t want to save her.

Eric: You don’t know what you speak of, dog (getting angry)

Sookie: Turn her.

Jason: What? (Looking at her)

Sookie stood up off the floor and approached Eric. She was willing to do anything to save her sister. Even if it meant having her as a vampire. She just couldn’t loose her sister. Summer was everything to her. They did everything together. She couldn’t loose another family member.

Sookie: You can turn her, right?

Eric: She doesn’t want that.

Sookie: I don’t care. Please, do it.

Eric: I can’t.

Sookie: Do you even care about her?

Eric: I do. More than anything, but she doesn’t want an immortal life.

Sookie: Please, do it. Please. I can’t loose her!!

Jason grabbed her from behind and escorted her over to one of the empty booths. She and Jason sat down and she laid her head on his chest, continuing to cry.

Eric: Sam she wants to talk to you.

Sam walks passed him and into his office. He walked over to a dying Summer on the cot and kneeled down next to her. He slid his hand under hers and held it, tightly. She turned her head slightly and gave him a smile.

Sam: Hey, there.

Summer: Don’t be sad, Sam. You have been a good friend to me and to my family. Plus, you’re not a bad boss either.

Sam: (smiling) You’re not too bad of an employee. But you’re an even better friend.

Summer: I want you to look after Sookie and my brother while I’m gone. They’re not going to handle my death very well.

Sam: You’re not going to die. We won’t let you (a tear rolling down his cheek)

Summer: Promise me, you’ll look out for them.

Sam: I promise.

He leaned down and planted his lips on her forehead. His hand let go of hers and he slowly stood up. As he walked towards the front door and out of his office, he wiped the tears from his face.

A little later, she had spoken to both Lafayette and Jason. They both said their good byes to her. Lafayette sat at one of the tables, by himself, with tears strolling down his face. Jason sat in one of the booths, his head lying in his arms as he cried. Sookie was in the office with Summer, kneeling down next to her and kissing her hand.

Sookie: You are going to be okay. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.

Summer: I want you to be happy, Sookie. Even if that means it’s with Bill. I’m okay with that now. Just make sure you look after Jason. He’s not handling this real well.

Sookie: Stop talking like this. You’re not dying.

Summer: I am. And it’s okay.

Sookie: It’s not okay. Please, stop talking like this (crying)

Summer: When I’m gone, you need to try to be happy. I don’t want you crying over me.

Sookie: Stop, please (still crying)

Summer raised up her hand with as much energy as she had left, and wiped the tears from Sookie’s face. Sookie then leaned down and hugged Summer. After a few minutes, she slowly got back onto her feet and walked out the office door. As she stepped into the bar area, she looked up and noticed Eric standing by the bar. She approached him, hoping that he would change his mind.

Sookie: So have you thought about what I’ve said?

Eric: There was nothing to think about. I told you what my answer was before.

She flashed him an evil glance and walked passed him. Eric lowered his head and thought about what Sookie wanted him to do. It sounded tempting, but he remembered what Summer had told him the other night. She didn’t want to be a vampire. She made that perfectly clear. He lifted up his head and looked at all the sad faces around the room. Nobody seemed to notice as Eric walked away from the bar, into the hallway and inside Sam’s office. Slowly and quietly he closed the office door behind him.

Several minutes later, Eric strolled into the bar carrying Summer in his arms. Everyone noticed and had concerned looks on their faces.

Sam: Is she dead?

Eric: Yes.

Before anyone else could say anything, Eric ran out of the bar quicker than they could blink. They turned their heads towards the front door and noticed the door slamming shut. Sam walked over to the front door, and slowly stepped outside. He immediately noticed Eric’s red Ferrari speed out of the gravel parking lot and onto the paved road ahead. As he stepped back into the bar, he realized that something wasn’t quite right. Eric had done something or else he wouldn’t have taken Summer’s dead body with him.

Jason: Where the hell did he go with my sister?

Sam: I’m not sure.

Later in the cemetery near the Stackhouse home, Pam stood next to Eric looking into an empty burial plot. Eric threw the shovel down onto the grown and leaned down to pick up Summer, who was lying lifeless on the grass. He scooped her up into his arms and then jumped down into the empty grave that he had dug himself. Slowly he laid her down and looked up at Pam.

Eric: You know what to do.

Pam: Of course.

She grabbed the shovel and began shoveling dirt into the empty grave. Eric laid behind Summer and wrapped his arm around her as Pam began shoveling more dirt on top of them.

Meanwhile, at the Stackhouse home, Sookie was upstairs and had entered Summer’s bedroom. Slowly she made her way over to the bed and climbed on top of it. She laid her head down on the pillow and pressed her nose into it, trying to get the smell of Summer’s perfume. Bill appeared behind Sookie and laid down behind her on the bed. He wrapped his arm around her and she began crying.

The next night, in the cemetery, a hand popped up out of the dirt and then another one. Slowly, Eric’s head came out of the dirt and he pulled himself out. As he climbed the rest of the way out of the grave, he stood up and spit the dirt out of his mouth. Suddenly, he noticed another hole in the dirt, near the one he had made. He realized that Summer had already awoken before him. Her scent was fresh in the air and he knew that she wasn’t far.

Meanwhile, at the Stackhouse home, Sookie walked down the stairs and as she reached the last step, she noticed the front door wide open. She made her way over to the door and she looked down noticing dirt starting from the porch and making their way into the living room. Slowly she stepped into the living room and didn’t notice anybody around. She started to feel her heart beating in her chest as she knew that somebody or something was inside her house. A feeling came over her as if someone was standing behind her. She swallowed hard and slowly turned around. Suddenly her back was pinned down to the floor and somebody was on top of her. She opened her eyes as she felt something tighten around her neck. On top of her was her sister, Summer.

Summer: Hello, sis (fangs out)

Chapter 9: The Sharpest Lives

*Warning: Contains bad language & suggestive dialogue*

At Merlotte’s bar and grill, in the early evening hours, Summer and Jackson were behind the bar fixing drinks and placing them onto the serving trays on the counter. Sookie and Arlene would take the trays, and bring them to the appropriate tables. Lee walked up to the kitchen window to collect a food order for one of her tables. She lifts up the tray and carries it on the palm of her hand. As she walks passed the bar, she glances at Summer who is still fixing drinks. She goes to her designated table and hands them their food basket. Lee walks over to the bar and leans up against it.

Lee: Hello, Summer.

Summer: Hello. Do you need anything? (Placing a drink on a serving tray)

Lee: No, I’m good. I was just wondering if you would like to hang out sometime.

Summer: Sure, but right now I’m pretty busy (fixing another drink)

Lee: Okay, that’s cool (flashing her a fake smile)

She quickly spins around, her smile turning into an evil frown as she walks over to her next designated table. Sookie was still ignoring Summer from their fight the previous night. Summer knew that she would get over it eventually, but for now her focus was on Detective Jackson. She would notice that from time to time he would stare at various people in the room, like he was jotting down notes in his mind.

Later, Summer’s shift was over. She decided to head down to Fangtasia to get away from everything. She never use to like going to Fangtasia, actually she dreaded it. Funny how things can change. Her relationship with Eric was progressing but she wasn’t for sure what it was leading to. All she knew was that Eric made her feel good and that’s all that really mattered. After pulling into the parking lot, she stepped out of her car and closed the door. Walking up towards the bar, she could sense that somebody was watching her. She slowly turned around and didn’t notice anybody. All she could see was cars parked in their lots and cars driving down the road ahead. She sighed and eventually stepped inside the bar. Pam, of course, was working the door and smiled as she noticed Summer.

Pam: Well hello, Summer.

Summer: Hi, Pam. Is Eric here tonight?

Pam: Of course. He probably already knows you’re here.

Summer: You’re probably right.

Pam: Have fun (with a grin)

Summer walked passed her and through the crowd of dancing people. The bar was pretty packed. From time to time, they would get tons of customers. She figured there was some sort of deal they offered, like free drinks or ladies night, or something, that would cause tons of people to show up. She stood in front of Eric’s office door and slowly opened it. As she stepped inside, the door slammed shut behind her, and she was pinned up against the door. Eric pressed his lips against hers and kissed her passionately. Summer kissed him back and Eric grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up. She wrapped her legs around his waist, as they kissed, and he moved over towards the leather sofa. He laid her down on the couch and pressed himself down against her grabbing her thigh and lifting it up around his waist. As his face pulled away from her, she noticed his fangs were out, which meant he was aroused. He leaned down and began kissing her chin and then down to her neck. His lips felt cold against her skin, but she liked the feeling. She could feel his fangs scrapping against her neck, as he licked her. He then bit down and began sucking the blood from her neck. Her blood was sweet and addictive. It used to hurt when he would bite down, but now she was used to the feeling and for some odd reason, it actually felt pretty good. She began pulling off his leather jacket, as he was still feeding from her. His jacket hit the floor and he lifted her up towards him and began lifting up her tank top from her waist and pulling it up over her head. He flung the tank top across the room and began kissing her again.

Later, Summer was sitting on the couch, buttoning up her shorts. Eric sat next to her, with a satisfied grin on his face. He couldn’t stop staring at her. He couldn’t seem to grasp this hold that she had over him. Whenever she was around, he felt happy. No human ever made him feel the way that she made him felt. Summer turned to look at him and smiled.

Summer: Why do you keep looking at me like that?

Eric: Because you’re beautiful.

Summer: (snickering) Okay. I think I should head home.

Eric: I thought you and Summer were fighting.

Summer: We are. (Pause) Hey, are you willing to kill Bill?

Eric: (snickering) Do not tempt me.

Summer stood up from the couch and Eric grabbed her hand, pulling her back down. He immediately leaned in and locked lips with hers. Her lips followed the rhythm of his as he grabbed her by the waist and lifted her onto him. She was sitting on is lap, facing him as they continued kissing. His hands grasping her back as they made out. She pulled her face away from him and he began kissing her neck, up and down.

Summer: Eric, I really need to go.

Eric: Stay with me (whispering in her ear)
Summer: I would, but I really need to go.

His hands snaked their way up the back of her shirt, as his lips made their way down to her chest. She then smacked his face and he let go. As she got up off his lap, his fangs popped out; aroused by the smack she had given him.

Eric: You know I like it when you take charge (with an evil grin)

Summer: You’re bad.

Eric: But you love it.

Summer: Bye, Eric.

She finally made her way out of his office and then out of the club. As she walked towards her car, she once again felt as if somebody was watching her. Quickly she walked to her car, unlocked the front door, and slid inside. She placed the key in the ignition and sped the car out of the driveway and onto the road ahead.

Meanwhile, near Fangtasia, stepping out from behind a tree was Lee Shaw, the new waitress from Merlotte’s. A black ford truck pulled up and Lee opened the passenger door and stepped inside.

Jared: What the hell are you doing out here? (In the driver seat)

Lee: I’m doing some surveillance. Why is it any of your damn business anyways?

Jared: Because I’m involved in this, too, you know.

Lee: Don’t get your panties all in a twist. Everything is going to turn out just fine.

Jared: What do you plan on doing to her?

Lee: Oh, she’s in a world of hurt, trust me. Nobody kills my man and gets away with it.

Jared: I’m upset that he’s dead; too, Lee, but he deserved what he had coming to him.

Lee: What? (Sounding angry) That was your brother. You should avenge his death (smacking him on the back of his head)

Jared: What the hell, Lee?

Lee: That bitch cut off your brother’s head. Think about that before you defend her next time.

Lee jumps out of the truck, and slams the door shut. Jared pulls out of the parking lot as Lee walks to her car, which is parked around the corner.

At the Stackhouse home, Summer enters the house and notices Bill sitting on the couch with Sookie, holding her hand and watching a movie with her. Summer slams the door shut, rolls her eyes, and runs up the stairs.

Sookie: Don’t worry about her.

Bill: Something is really bothering her.

Sookie: Yeah, you.

Upstairs, Summer steps into her room and closes the door behind her. She peals off her leather jacket and lets it drop to the floor. She then kicks off her shoes and walks over to her bed. Plopping down on the bed, face first, she looks toward her window and notices that it’s wide open. Before she could sit up, Eric appears next to her, on the bed.

Eric: Did I frighten you?

Summer: No. I figured it was you.

Eric: (smiling) I’m not stalking you if that’s what you think. I just thought you would need some company.

Summer: You know what would make me really happy?

Eric: What? Tell me.

Summer: If you go down stairs and kill Bill for me.

Eric: (snickering) And you say I’m bad.

He lies next to her on the bed, on his side and slides his hand through her hair.

Summer: I’m serious. I can’t stand him being in my grandmother’s house.

Eric: We could do something else (with a big grin)

Summer: Ooo…I wonder what that would be (sarcastically)

Eric: Smart-ass.

Summer: Yeah, but you love it.

Eric: I sense that something else is bothering you.

Summer: I feel like somebody is following me. And it’s not you.

Eric: Do you think it’s that cop?

Summer: Might be, but I don’t know.

Eric: Don’t worry about him. If he gets in the way, then I’ll take care of it.

Summer: Everybody keeps saying that. Seriously, I’m not playing. Go downstairs and kill him or just smack him around a bit. That would really make me happy.

Eric: You have the right temperament for a vampire.

Summer: Well that’s not good. Being a vampire would totally suck. (Laughing) I said ‘Suck’.

Eric: I’m glad you’re amused. Seriously, if something was to happen and your only choice was to be made into a vampire, would you agree to that?

Summer: (thinking) Uh…probably not. I like being alive. I love the daytime. Being a vampire wouldn’t be an option. I would rather die.

Eric: Do you really mean that?

Summer: I do. Just promise me that if something does happen to me, that you won’t turn me.

Eric: (hesitating) I promise. If that’s what you choose.

Eric leans towards her face and presses his lips, firmly to hers.

The next morning, Summer opens her eyes and realizes that Eric was gone. He had snuck out through the bedroom window as dawn was approaching. She noticed a small silver box sitting on the pillow next to her. She grabbed the box, and sat up in her bed, clutching the blanket to her chest. Slowly she opened up the box and noticed a necklace inside. It was a stainless steel necklace with a ruby pennant. She formed a big smile on her face, as she took the necklace out of the box and clasped the necklace around her neck.

Downstairs, an hour later, Summer strolls into the kitchen, passing by Sookie, who is sitting at the table eating her breakfast and opens up the refrigerator door. She pulls out the carton of orange juice and then closes the door. Once again, she walks passed Sookie, as if she doesn’t even notice her. She opens up the cabinet and grabs a glass. The cabinet closes and she pours the juice into the glass. As she drank from it, she noticed Sookie staring at her from the table.

Sookie: Can we talk?

Summer: I have to get to work. Sam buzzed me earlier, so it must be urgent. We’ll talk later.

She placed the empty glass in the sink and strolls out of the kitchen. Sookie gets up out of her chair and follows her sister out of the room. Before she could reach her, Summer had already walked out the front door and into her car. Sookie stared at her from the window, as she watched her sister drive off.

At Merlotte’s, Summer pulls into the back gravel road and notices Sam standing outside with Jackson. She begins to feel a sudden fear overwhelm her. She turns the car off and steps out of the car. As she walks up to them, Sam approaches her.

Sam: We need to talk in my office.

Summer: Okay.

Summer follows both Sam and Jackson inside through the back, and down the hallway towards his office. As they stepped into his office, Jackson closes the door behind them.

Summer: What’s up?

Sam: (sitting down in his desk chair) Jackson has something he needs to ask you.

Summer: Okay (swallowing hard)

Jackson: Sam told me that you’ve been to Georgia within the past several months.

Summer: Yeah, so.

Jackson: Did you go by the name Abigail Reed?

Summer: What? (Playing dumb)

Sam: Summer, I told him that you knew he was a cop. So don’t hide anything from him.

She turned to face Jackson, who was standing by the door, making sure she didn’t try to escape.

Summer: Yeah, I went by that name. Why do you ask?

Jackson: I found that name on the hospital’s roster. You had serious injuries. They said you had been involved in a car wreck.

Sam: (shocked) What? You never told me you were involved in an accident.

Summer: Well now you know. Can I go now? (Looking at Jackson)

Jackson: I checked out the vehicle you were in and it seems that your brakes were cut. Were you aware of that?

Summer: No. I had no idea (lying)

Jackson: You’re lying to me. You’re hiding something. Are you protecting those West boys?

Summer: Hell, no.

Jackson: So you do know them? Also, Chris Hunter, who was helping me with my investigation, recently disappeared.

Summer: Maybe he skipped out of town with the rest of them. Is all this really necessary? Shouldn’t I get back to work?

Sam: We are closed this afternoon. That’s another reason why you’re here. I need you to open up the place this evening. I have to run a few errands.

Summer: Sure, no problem. (Looking at Jackson) Are you done asking me questions?

Jackson: For now.

She then walks passed him, opens up the door and leaves. Sam gives Jackson a glance.

Sam: I told you to ease up on her.

Jackson: She’s hiding something and I’m going to find out what.

Later that afternoon, Summer is in the back, in the kitchen, stocking up the freezer with meats and things. She closes the door and latches it shut as she loaded the last box inside. She froze in her tracks as she heard something. She spun around and noticed the door was cracked opened. Walking over to the door, she closed it and locked it. As she was about to step out of the kitchen, she felt a sharp pain in her back, followed by another. The pain was so intense, shooting up and down her spine. Suddenly she felt like the room was spinning around her. Her legs gave out from under her and she fell to the floor, landing on her stomach. As she laid still on the cold surface of the kitchen floor, she felt something warm and wet on her back. Her face was turned to the side on the floor, and she felt as if she wanted to move, but she couldn’t. A pair of white, strapped high heels came to view. The person kneeled down to her level and Summer glanced up. It was Lee Shaw, the new waitress that Sam had hired. Lee had a white rag in her hand along with a big knife. She was cleaning Summer’s blood off of the knife.

Lee: Karma is a bitch, isn’t it?

Summer: What? (Barely able to speak)

Lee: Let me introduce myself. I’m Lee Shaw. You hacked off my boyfriend’s head.

Summer: You’re James’ girlfriend?

Lee: Ding, Ding. What does she win? (Being sarcastic) Nobody is going to save you now. Sam won’t show up till around opening time and your vampire lover is recently incapacitated because of it being daytime and all. So I guess you’ll just have to lie here and bleed out. It was nice meeting you, Summer.

She stood up and threw the knife on the floor next to Summer. Before she stepped out of the kitchen, she threw the rag in the sink. Summer lied still on the floor, unable to move. She felt cold from the surface and her back was soaked in her own blood.

Meanwhile, at Eric and Pam’s place, Eric was dead asleep in his darkened room. He lied in bed, with the black satin sheets up to his waist. Suddenly his eyes opened. He felt that Summer was in serious danger. Also, he sensed that she was in extreme pain and he knew that she had been hurt. He bolted up and swung his feet down onto the floor. Faster than the blink of an eye, he was standing in front of his bedroom door, but his vampire senses knew that dusk hadn’t approached yet. All he could do was wait until sunset or hope that somebody would find her soon and try to help her. Suddenly an idea popped into his head. He walked over to his bed and sat down. In front of him, on the nightstand was his iPhone. He grabbed it and scrolled down till he found the number he was looking for. When he found Sam Merlotte’s name, he pressed the call button and pressed the phone up against his ear.

Sam: (on the other end) Hello?

Eric: Sam is Summer with you?

Sam: (on the other end) Shouldn’t you be asleep?

Eric: Summer is in danger. Do you know where she might be?

Sam: She should be at my bar. She’s going to open it up for me this evening. Why?

Eric: Please, do me a favor and go check on her.

Sam: (on the other end) I’m sure she’s fine.

Eric: Go check on her now. I fear that she’s in serious danger.(getting frustrated)

Sam: (on the other end) Okay, I will.

As Sam hung up the phone, on the other end, Eric turned off his phone and placed it back onto his night stand. All he could do was wait for the sun to settle.

Twenty minutes later, Sam pulled into the parking lot in front of his bar. As he hopped out of his truck, he noticed Lafayette approaching the front door.

Sam: Hey, Lafayette. What are you doing here?

Lafayette: I thought I would help Summer out before we opened. What are you doing here?

Sam: Making sure everything is okay.

He reached for the door and tried to pull it open but it wouldn’t budge. It was locked. Lafayette and Sam then walked around back and noticed Summer’s car. As they approached the back door, Sam reached for the knob and turned it, but it was locked. Sam reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys. He skimmed through each one until he found the right key. He placed the key into the hole and turned it. The door unlocked and Sam pushed the door open. As they stepped inside, they realized it was dark and they couldn’t hear anything. It was like nobody was inside. Sam and Lafayette slowly walked down the hallway and into the bar area. There was nobody in sight. The chairs were placed back down on the floor, so Sam figured that Summer had been there, plus her car was still parked around back. He knew something was horribly wrong, he just hoped Eric was wrong. Lafayette yelled for Sam in the back. Sam went running into the kitchen area. As he stepped into the room, he noticed Lafayette kneeling down in front of somebody. Sam stepped closer and realized the body on the floor was Summer.

Chapter 8: Renegade

*Warning: Contains bad language*

Eric noticed Summer gripping onto the axe handle, clutched by her side. He reached out and grabbed her by the hand, pulling her inside. He then closed the door behind her. Summer stood frozen in position, staring straight ahead and gripping the axe tightly by her side. Eric slowly stood in front of her and reached for the axe, but she pulled it back from him slightly. Eric could sense that she was in shock by what she had done.

Eric: Summer, hand me the axe. It’s okay now.

She glanced down at the axe at her side and then slowly looked up at Eric. He touched her hand and she felt an instant feeling of relief and comfort. She slowly released her grip from the axe handle and Eric grabbed it from her and placed in on the leather couch behind him. Pam came strolling down the stairs and noticed Summer had blood splatters all over her. She also noticed the bloody axe lying on the leather couch.

Pam: Well it’s about time somebody neutered those dogs.

Eric: Summer, tell me what you did.

Pam: Oh, I think we know exactly what she did (with a big grin on her face)

Eric quickly gave her a look that made her shut her mouth and sit down quietly on the couch, next to the bloody axe.

Summer: I am so sorry (sounding upset)

Eric: Sorry about what?

Summer: It happened so fast. I was just so angry (clinching her fists by her side)

Eric: What did you do? You can tell me.

Summer was quiet for a moment, staring down at the floor. She looked back up and formed an angry look on her face. Her eyebrows were scrunched downward and her forehead was tight.

Summer: No, I’m not sorry. He deserved what he got! And I would do it again!

Eric approached her and grabbed both her hands, staring directly into her eyes. Summer began to feel more calm and content. She hated the fact that Eric could feel what she felt, but she soon realized that it wasn’t so bad after all. At least he knew how to calm her down.

Eric: Tell me what happened.

Summer: I waited for Sookie and Lafayette to fall asleep before I snuck out of the house. I went to the nearest run down motel and noticed James’ truck parked out front. I wasn’t going to do anything at first, until I noticed James walking out to the ice machine. I just remember having an overwhelming feeling of rage and vengeance. The next thing I remember, I’m standing over James’ body. He was lying in a pool of his own blood and he….he was…..headless.

Pam: Headless? (One eyebrow moved up)

Eric: Keep going.

Summer: (staring at the axe on the couch) I don’t remember actually killing him. But I had that axe in my hand and it was covered in his blood. I also had his blood all over me, so I guess I did kill him. I panicked and went out the bathroom window, so that nobody would notice.

Pam: He had a brother right? Where was he?

Summer: I don’t know. Oh, shit! He’s gonna know I was in that room!

Eric: You will stay here for the night just in case. (Looking at Pam) Pam, go to the motel and check out the scenery.

Pam: Now?

Eric: Yes, now.

Pam: I think it can wait. It will be dawn in a few hours. And I’m getting hungry.

Eric then spoke a foreign language to her and she rolled her eyes and stood up from off the couch.

Eric: Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a new outfit for Summer on your way back.

Pam: Fine.

She flashed Summer a grin and ran out the front door, quicker than a blink. Eric strolled over towards Summer and grabbed her hand.

Eric: We need to get you cleaned up. You smell like dog (scrunching up his nose)

He then led her upstairs, down the long hallway and into his large bathroom that was inside his master bedroom.

Summer: I think I can handle it from here.

Eric: Are you sure? I could join you (with an evil grin on his face)

Summer: I just really want to be alone right now.

Eric: Well if you change your mind, I’ll be outside the door.

Summer: You really don’t know when to stop, do you?

He flashed her a smirky grin and slowly stepped out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Summer glanced at herself in the mirror in front of her and noticed the blood splattered across her forehead and cheeks. She slowly pulled up her tank top from over her head and dropped it on the floor. The rest of her clothes came off and she stepped into the large shower that could have fit close to five people inside. She closed the glass door and turned on the shower. The water sprayed out of the shower head and as it got warmer, Summer stepped under it and let the water hit her face. The bloody water dripped down off her face and onto the floor of the shower. She placed both her hands on her face and rubbed the blood off. She stood frozen under the warm stream of the shower and stared at the tiled wall in front of her. Her feelings were taking over. She didn’t know whether to feel upset about what she did or satisfied. As she looked down at her feet, she noticed the water surrounding her was dark red from the blood that had washed off her body. She looked back up and began running her hands through her hair to get all the blood out. After a few minutes, she felt calm and relaxed. A presence was in the shower with her and she immediately formed a smile on her face. She turned around and noticed a naked Eric standing in front of her. Slowly she approaches him and plants her lips on his, wrapping her arms around his neck.

An hour later, Eric steps out of his room, quietly closing the door behind him. Pam appears in front of him with a smirk on her face. She notices that he’s in nothing but his thigh high black, satin robe.

Pam: Well I can see that you had some fun while I was out doing your dirty work.

Eric: What did you discover at the motel?

Pam: Nothing much. The brother was there. Apparently he was doing a little dirty work himself.

Eric: What? (Confused)

Pam: He was cleaning up your girlfriend’s mess.

Eric: Why?

Pam: Maybe he’s hiding something. I don’t know, I’m not a dog whisperer. So how was it? (Biting on her index finger and smiling)

Eric: Go to bed.

Eric headed back into his bedroom and closed the door behind him. Pam spun around and strolled down the hallway towards her room.

That morning, Summer slowly opened her eyes and noticed Eric lying beside her, dead asleep. She sat up, pressing the black satin blanket up against her chest and realized it was morning and that she needed to show up to work, as normal like nothing ever happened. She couldn’t let Sookie figure out what she had done. Once her legs touched the floor, she noticed a new outfit hanging on the doorknob of the bathroom. She quickly hops out of bed, snatches the outfit off the door and starts to put them on. Slowly she slid the short khaki shorts on and pulled the tight, hot pink tank top on over her head. As her new clothes were on, she quietly snuck out of Eric’s room, down the hallway, and out of the house.

Later at Merlotte’s, Summer entered through the back door and as she walked down the hallway, Lafayette approached her with a big grin on his face. He grabbed her hand and quickly led her down the hallway towards Sam’s office. As they got closer to Sam’s office, Summer noticed somebody in the office with Sam. Sam was sitting in his desk chair while a male, wearing jeans and a leather jacket stood in front of him.

Summer: Lafayette, what is going on?

Lafayette: I’m not sure. But who ever that man is, he definitely needs my number.

Summer: (laughing) So you don’t know who he is?

Lafayette: No, hun, but I will.

Summer clocks in and strolls by Sam’s office and into the bar area. She notices Arlene behind the bar waiting for her.

Summer: Sorry I’m late. I had a long night.

Arlene: That’s okay, hun. We hardly have any customers right now anyways.

Summer steps behind the bar, as Arlene steps out and begins waitressing. Sookie walks up to the bar and slides Summer her first drink order. She makes eye contact with Sookie to see if Sookie suspects anything. Sookie flashes her a smile and walks off towards her table area. As she fixes her first drink order, Sam walks around the bar with the leather jacket guy.

Sam: And this here is Summer Stackhouse. She’s one of the best.

She spins around with a beer bottle in her hand and smiles at Sam.

Summer: Awww…you’re so sweet. So who’s your friend?

Sam: This is Jackson. He’s my brother.

Summer: (in shock) What? I didn’t know you had a brother.

Sam: He’s only my half brother. He’s here to help out for a few days.

Summer: Well, it’s nice to meet you, Jackson (extending her hand out towards him)

Jackson: The pleasure is all mine (grabbing her hand and kissing the top of it)

Sam: Summer can you show Jackson how you perfect your drinks?

Summer: Sure, no problem.

Summer then begins showing Jackson how she fixes some of her famous drinks. Sam watches from a far, but Summer knows that something is up with Jackson but she can’t quite figure out what. She noticed Lafayette staring at him from to time out of the kitchen window and she couldn’t help but smile.

A few minutes later, a young woman enters the bar and approaches Summer from behind the bar.

Young Woman: Hello, do you know who I can see about a job opening?

Summer: (waving Sam over) Here he comes right now.

Sam walks up to her with a friendly smile on his face. He then escorts her into his office in the back. Summer continues showing Jackson the ropes around the bar.

Later that evening, there were tons of customers, more than usual in the bar. Summer and Jackson had teamed up serving drinks as fast as they could. Sookie and Arlene, along with the new girl, Lee Shaw, were taking the drink orders off the counter and over to their appropriate tables. Bill Compton then appeared in the bar and Sookie stopped in her tracks as she noticed him. Summer noticed him and walked out from behind the bar, quickly approaching him. As she reached him, she punched him on the mouth. Bill’s head flinched back and he touched his lip as it bled. Sookie grabbed a hold of Summer’s arm, pulling her away from him.

Summer: You have a lot of nerve showing up here (angry)

Bill: I understand why you are angry. You have every right to be.

Summer: Do you have any idea what you have put Sookie through? Do you?!

Sookie: Summer, that’s enough.

Summer: Now, this guy is a complete douche bag. You need to find yourself somebody else. He’s not even worth your time.

Bill: I just want to speak with your sister.

Summer: Like hell you are (getting angrier) You better be grateful that there are people here, or else I would end you right now.

Sookie: Summer!! That’s enough! I can’t deal with him myself.

Summer flashed Bill and evil look as she turned around and made her way back behind the bar. Sookie grabbed Bill’s hand and quickly stepped out the front door and out into the parking lot. As Summer got back to work, fixing and serving drinks, she would glance up from time to time out the front door to see what was going on out in the parking lot between her sister and Bill. After a few minutes had passed, Sookie can strolling back inside and got back to work. Summer was confused and couldn’t tell whether she ditched Bill’s ass or made up. So she continued working, helping out Jackson with the drinks.

A few hours later, Summer was off her shift. Sookie had already left, without her knowing. She figured that she was going to talk to Bill some more at his place. As she clocked out, she happened to over hear Jackson talking to Sam. She froze in position, carefully listening to their conversation which was taking place inside Sam’s office.

Sam: So what do you think?

Jackson: Don’t worry Sam; nobody is under any suspicion yet.

Sam: You come here and expect me to believe that (sounding frustrated)

Jackson: Sam, you’re my brother, I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize your bar.

Sam: If anybody finds out who you really are, then I don’t know if my employees will ever trust me again.

Jackson: You worry too much. All I need is a few more days and I’ll be out of Louisiana before you know it.

Sam: You better be.

Jackson then stepped out of Sam’s office and Summer put on her jacket, acting as if she heard nothing.

Jackson: Well hello, Summer. Can I walk you to your car?

Summer: Sure (with a fake smile on her face)

Jackson then escorted Summer out the back entrance of the bar and out into the low lit parking lot. As they reached her car, she unlocked the front door and Jackson opened it up for her.

Summer: Thank you.

She slid into the front seat and Jackson flashed her a smile as he closed the door for her. As he closed the door, she noticed a slight glimpse of his detective badge. She knew then that he was a cop and he was investigating something. Jackson walked away from her car and Summer felt an urge or paranoia. Was he investigating the murder of James or was he here for something else. And was he really Sam’s brother. Summer placed her key into the ignition and drove out of the parking lot and onto the paved road.

Later she had pulled into the Fangtasia parking lot and went inside the bar. Pam flashed her a smile, as usual and let her go passed. She walked towards Eric’s office and closed the door behind her. Eric looked up from at his desk and formed a smirk on his face.

Summer: I think I’m screwed.

Eric: What?

Summer: There is this guy named Jackson who claims to be Sam’s half brother and he is pretending to help out at the bar, when really he is just undercover. He’s a fuckin’ cop.

Eric: Really? (Leaning back in his chair)

Summer: I thought Pam told you that I was in the clear.

Eric: Well you are.

Summer: You don’t sound too certain.

Eric: You’re getting paranoid. It’s really unflattering.

Summer: Well sorry to disappoint you, but I killed a man!

Eric stood up out of his chair and walked towards her, quicker than she could blink. He stood in front of her, and ran his hand around her waist and pulled her towards him. He leaned in and pressed his lips to her. She pretty much had forgotten what she was worried about. All she felt was his cold lips pressed against hers and it felt good.

Later, at Bill’s place, Summer pulled up in front and quickly got out of her car. She walked up the front steps and began knocking on the door. When nobody would answer, she turned the knob and let herself in. As she stepped inside, she noticed Bill and Sookie making out on the couch, in his living room. She stomped into the living room and Sookie pulled her face away from Bill’s.

Summer: What the hell, Sookie?!

Sookie: Bill explained everything. It’s alright now.

Summer: Like hell it is! He left you, Sookie. Don’t you remember that?

Sookie: He had to do something for the Queen.

Summer: That is complete bullshit. What kind of hold does he have on you anyways?

Sookie: Listen, Summer, I appreciate you trying to protect me, but I think I can decide for myself.

Summer: You are a cold son-of-a-bitch (looking at Bill). You think you have her fooled, but not me. I’m not as gullible.

Bill: Summer, I love your sister. I would never do anything to hurt her.

Summer: Really? Then how come you left? You knew she would follow you to Mississippi. That was putting her in so much danger. If she would have been hurt or killed because of you, I would have hunted you down and staked you myself.

Sookie: Summer! That’s enough. Now leave (getting upset)

Summer: Not until you leave with me.

Sookie: Why are you acting like this? You of all people should know how I feel.

Summer: What the hell is that suppose to mean?

Sookie: I wouldn’t interfere in your relationship with Eric.

Summer: I and Eric don’t have a relationship.

Sookie: Then what do you call it?

Summer: That is none of your business.

Sookie: And that goes the same for me and Bill.

Bill: Something happened to you recently, hasn’t it?

Summer: And that is none of your damn business either.

She quickly spun around and walked out of the living room area, towards the front door. Sookie bounced up off the couch and ran over towards Summer, grabbing her arm.

Sookie: What are you hiding?

Summer: Nothing.

Sookie: Then where were you last night?

Summer: I was with Eric, okay.

She pulled her arm away from Sookie and barged out the front door. Sookie heard the car start and speed out of the driveway.

Later in the back parking lot, of Merlotte’s bar and grill, Summer stepped out of her car and walked over towards Sam’s trailer, which was in the back of the bar. She walked up the first few steps and knocked on his door. Sam opened up the door and flashed her a huge smile.

Sam: Hey, Summer, what brings you by here?

Summer: Can I come in? I have something I need to ask you.

Sam: Sure. Come on in.

He pushed open the screen door as Summer walked passed him and into his trailer. He closed the door behind him and offered her a drink. She didn’t want a drink; she just wanted to lay everything out on the table.

Sam: Come, sit (walking over towards his sofa)

Summer: (sitting down) This Jackson guy, is he really your brother?

Sam: (sitting next to her) Yes, half brother. I wouldn’t lie to you about that.

Summer: I over heard your conversation this evening. He’s a cop isn’t he?

Sam: Did you read his thoughts?

Summer: I didn’t need to.

Sam: He is, but you can’t tell anybody.

Summer: What is he investigating?

Sam: Something about these murders that have happened in Georgia. Why?

Summer: I was just wondering.

Sam: You seem anxious. What is wrong?

Summer: (turning to look at him) I did something horrible.

Sam: (holding her hand) What did you do? You can tell me.

Summer: I murdered somebody (a tear rolling down her cheek)

Sam: Who?

Summer: A man named James. He was trying to kill me.

Sam: So it was self defense?

Summer: No, not necessarily. More like vengeance.

Sam: Vengeance, for what?

Summer: For murdering my ex-boyfriend, Chris.

Sam: That guy that came into the bar that upset you?

Summer: Yes. I took an axe and I decapitated him. Is that why Jackson is here?

Sam: He didn’t say anything about that.

Summer: I am so scared. I’ve never murdered anybody before.

Sam took his finger and wiped the tear from her cheek. He placed his arm around her shoulder and pulled her towards him. She laid her head on his shoulder, close to his neck.

Sam: I’ll protect you. Nothing is going to happen. Jackson is going to leave in a few days and then there will be nothing to worry about.

That afternoon, Summer was inside Merlotte’s behind the bar while Jackson was standing by the kitchen window talking to Lafayette. Sookie was ignoring Summer while she took a few orders from the only few customers that they had. Summer figured Sookie would be mad at her for awhile, but she wasn’t particularly worried about her, she was more worried about Jackson. Until he leaves Bon Temps, she was going to have to keep an eye out on him.

Outside the bar, Lee’s car pulls into the parking lot. As she turns off her car, he phone begins to ring. She grabs the phone out of her purse and flips it open, pressing it up against her ear. She gets out of the car and continues talking.

Lee: Yes, I was hired. Don’t worry about me, I have this covered. So which one is Summer again? Oh, right the pretty brunette behind the bar (looking through the front door) Jared, like I said, I have this covered.

She flipped the phone closed and pulled open the front door of the bar, walking inside. Lee flashed Summer a smile as she headed towards the back to clock in.

To be continued….

Chapter 7: What Hurts The Most

*Warning: Contains bad language*

At the Stackhouse home, Summer was laying on her side, on the floor, in front of her twin sister, Sookie. Jared was standing behind her, with his hands pressed down on her shoulders. James was pacing back and for worth in the room, just waiting for Eric or Chris to show their faces. Summer slowly pushes herself up, facing Sookie. Sookie smiled at her for reassurance. She then began using her telekinesis ability to communicate with Summer.

Sookie: (in her thoughts) Are you okay?

Summer: (in her thoughts) I’m okay. You?

Sookie: (in her thoughts) I’m fine. Who are these guys?

Summer: (in her thoughts) It’s a long story.

Jared: James, I don’t think either one of them are going to show up.

James: Well then I guess I’ll have to do something drastic.

James walks over towards Summer. She knew that he was going to hurt her in order to get Eric to show up. So she quickly bounced up on her feet. He tried to grab her throat, but she grabbed his wrist and kneed him in the stomach. As he tried to grab for her again, she punched him in the face. His head flung back and he immediately grabbed his nose. She then kicked him in the chest, sending him flying backwards onto the floor. As James’ back hit the floor, Summer then sensed that something was wrong with Sookie. She turned to face her and noticed that Jared had his arm around her neck and a gun pressed up against the side of her head.

Jared: Don’t lay another hand on him, or she’ll have to bite the bullet.

Summer was getting frustrated because she felt as though she couldn’t protect herself or her sister. She stared at Jared long and hard, trying to concentrate on his thoughts, but she couldn’t really hear much. When coming to the supernatural, it’s a little harder to hear their thoughts. Sometimes she can hear something, but other times she can’t unless she really focuses hard, deep down in his subconscious mind. She glanced around the room for any object that might be heavy and breakable. The family portrait on the wall looked like a good thing at the time. She could always replace the frame. As she focused on the picture frame, she quickly concentrated on Jared’s head and the picture frame went flying off the wall and towards Jared. The frame smacked right up against the side of his head. His head jerked to the side and he released Sookie.

Summer: Sookie, run!! Get out of here!

Sookie: I’m not leaving without you!

Summer: Run, now!

Summer was then punched on the side of her face, by James, who had gotten up off the floor. Sookie quickly took off towards the front door, but Jared pounced on her back from behind. They both fell to the floor, while James grabbed Summer by the waist, holding on tightly.

Meanwhile, at Fangtasia, Eric was in his office filling out paperwork when he got an intense feeling of Summer, once again, in trouble. He bolted up out of his chair and faster than a bolt of lightening, he ran out of his office and out of the back entrance.

Back at the Stackhouse home, Summer is in a chair, tied down by the wrists and ankles with rope. Sookie is sitting on the couch next to Jared, the gun resting nicely on his lap. James paces back in for worth in the room waiting for Eric or Chris to show up.

Out on the front porch of the Stackhouse home, Eric finally stops in front of the door. He tries to reach for the knob but something doesn’t feel right. It’s as if his invitation had been revoked. The front door then slowly opened and standing in the doorway, with a big grin on his face, was James.

James: Well hello there. I thought you would never come.

Eric: Where is Summer? (Sounding angry and irritated)

James: You’re probably wondering why you can’t enter her house. Well it’s because I paid someone, well a witch, to cast a spell so that no vampires can enter this house. Wasn’t that just clever of me?

Eric: I will find a way inside.

James: No you won’t. So enjoy the outdoors (slamming the door shut on Eric’s face)

Eric was more than just furious; he was aggravated with the fact that he had been dooped by a werewolf. He made his way over to the windows on the porch to see if he could see what was going on inside. The lacey curtains kind of made it hard to see inside, but since he was an older vampire, he could see passed the lace. He noticed Sookie sitting on the couch, next to Jared. He had a gun resting on his lap, pointing it in Sookie’s direction. Eric glanced through the other window and noticed Summer tied up to a chair, with James standing in front of her. Anger filled him as he realized there was no way to help her, so he needed to think fast. He jumped over the porch railing and onto the ground. As he backed away from the house, he looked up at the second story and thought maybe he could get in through there. He flew up into the air and then landed onto the roof.

Inside, James looked up at the ceiling with a big grin on his face. He then glanced back down at Summer.

James: Your vamp is smart but not smarter than me.

Summer: He’ll find a way in and when he does, he’ll tear you to shreds.

James: (snickering) Did you hear that, Jared? He’ll tear me to shreds. (Leaning into Summer’s face) Sorry darling, but that’s just not possible.

While James approached Jared and began whispering into his ear, Summer tried wiggling her hands through the rope to see if she can set them free. She remembered when she was little when Jason would play cops and robbers and Summer would often get tied up. So she pretty much was good at learning how to get her hands free. She wiggled her wrists back and for worth through the ropes to try to get them loose. In the process, the rope was rubbing the skin off her wrists and blood trickled down and onto the carpet. Sookie noticed what Summer was trying to do, so she decided she would distract James for a little bit.

Sookie: Why are you doing this to us?

James: Because your sister here knows what I and my brother did. So that means she’s gonna have to die.

Sookie: She’ll keep your secret. Just please let us go.

James: I’m touched, really. But I can’t do that.

Sookie: We can come to some sort of arrangement. Please (sounding upset and desperate)

James leans down towards her face and stares into her eyes hard.

James: Sorry sweetheart. I’m gonna make your sister bleed. And you’re going to watch.

He pulls out a pocket knife out of his back jean pocket and walks over towards Summer. Summer notices him approaching her and stops moving her hands around behind her. She notices James unfold his knife and she knew that it wasn’t going to be good. James turns to look at Sookie and gives her an evil wink.

James: You’re going to want to watch this.

Then with a quick movement of his arm, he slashed Summer on her leg, above her knee. Summer flinched in pain. It felt as though she had just gotten a giant paper cut. It began to burn and throb. Blood started trickling down her leg and onto the chair she was sitting in.

Sookie: Leave her alone! Please! (Getting upset)

James: Sorry little lady. I’m just getting started.

Jared: James, tone it down a bit. That’s her sister.

James: Aww…cry me a river cause I don’t give a shit.

Jared just shook his head in disgust but he wasn’t gutsy enough to stand up to his brother. Especially since James is older than him and much stronger. So he just sat back and watched. James then grabbed Summer’s jaw, and forced her to look at him, so that she couldn’t see his next move. He quickly slashed her on her upper arm. She flinched in pain, but still continued looking at him with an evil stare. There then was a loud, crashing noise coming from upstairs. James gave Jared a glance and quickly ran out of the room and up the stairs. Summer decided it was her chance to try and break free of the ropes. From the angle Jared was sitting, he really couldn’t tell what Summer was up to. He knew she was up to something, but he figured it wasn’t nothing serious, so kept focus on Sookie next to him. Summer began wiggling her hands trying to get the rope free. In the process, she was scrapping the skin off her wrists, causing them to bleed. Jared whipped his head in her direction and sniffed in the air. He caught a whiff of her blood and thought maybe it was just from the wounds James had made previously, but it seemed fresher than that. Jared stood up from the couch and slowly approached her. As he stepped closer towards her, Summer lunged forward and threw the rope around his neck. She then began pulling on the rope, choking him. He fell to his knees and gripped a hold of the rope, pulling her towards him. Sookie snatched the gun off the couch next to her and bolted up off the couch. She then smacked the butt of the gun against the side of Jared’s head. As a result, he fell to the floor, unconscious. Sookie began untying the rope from Summer’s ankles. She grabbed Summer by the hand and they took off towards the living room entrance.

James suddenly appeared in front of them, with an evil glance on his face. With a quick swipe of his arm, he smacked Sookie across the room and approached Summer. Summer took a few steps back but had a plan in mind. A plan that might cause her to feel a lot of pain. She just hoped that it would work. James then ran towards her and before Summer could make a move, he had grabbed a hold of her throat, tightly and lifted her up off the ground. Sookie slowly sat up from the floor and noticed James. She could sense that James was furious with her.

James: Die, you bitch!!

He then threw her, causing her to bust through the window. She went through the window, over the porch railing and onto the grassy ground outside. The pain was excruciating and it was all over her body. Little pieces of glass surrounded her on the ground. She tried to push herself up, but the pain was too much. Eric suddenly appeared at her side and slid his hand under her back, to pull her up towards him. Blood began trickling down the side of her mouth.

Eric: Let me heal you (looking down at her)

Summer: No not again (barely able to speak)

Eric: Let me do this for you. I sense the pain that you’re in.

Summer: Help my sister, please.

Inside the house, James was so infuriated that he snatched the gun off the floor and approached Sookie, pointing it towards her. Suddenly the gun was knocked out of his hand and someone had punched him on the side of the face. James noticed Chris and formed a satisfied grin on his face.

James: It’s about time you showed your face.

Chris: I’m here to make your life a living hell. Starting with this.

Chris had grabbed the ottoman like it weighted nothing and smacked it into James, causing him to fly over the sofa. Chris threw the ottoman and stood still waiting for James to leap out from behind the couch. Nothing happened and Chris knew that something wasn’t right, but he figured if he walked around that sofa that it was a trap waiting to happen. Suddenly the sofa came flying towards him and Chris ducked. The sofa slammed into the wall behind him and as he looked forward, James was charging at him. James pushed Chris out the broken window and they began fighting on the front porch. He was on top of Chris, punching him numerous times on the face. Chris then head-butted James and jumped up onto his feet. He then tackled James off the porch and onto the ground below. Summer watched as they rolled around on the ground punching one another. She felt as though her sister was still in danger.

Summer: Eric, help Sookie, please.

Eric: I need to stay with you. Please let me heal you.

Summer: I think I’ll be okay.

She tried to sit up on her own, but she felt intense pain in her back. Eric’s fangs popped out and he instantly bit into his wrist. He held his bloody wrist out towards her face.

Eric: Please, drink now (sounding eager)

Summer: I can’t (flinching in pain)

Eric: Your ribs are broken. If you want the pain to go away, you will drink from me.

She thought about how much pain she was in and realized how much she wanted that feeling to go away. The pain was all over her body. In her chest, her back, her legs and arms. What she was about to do, she would have to live with for the rest of her life. She grabbed a hold of his wrist and pulled it towards her face. Her lips pressed against the wound and she began sucking and licking the blood from his wrist. He felt satisfied by her quick response and was enjoying the fact that his blood bond with her would be even stronger. Not only would he be able to feel her, but she would be able to feel him, as well. She immediately pulled away from his wrist and licked the remaining blood from her lips.

Summer: Now go help Sookie, please.

He lowered her back down onto the ground and he took off faster than a blink towards the house. Summer laid back, looking up at the starry sky, hoping that Eric’s blood would heal her quickly. Chris and James were still fighting nearby. James had grabbed Chris by both shoulders and tackled him into a sturdy oak tree. He then kneed Chris in the stomach and elbowed him in the back. As Chris fell to the ground, James pressed his boot into Chris’ chest, digging in hard. Summer noticed that James was winning the fight and felt anxious. She was wondering what was taking Eric so long to help Sookie. Maybe he had to fight off Jared, but she didn’t hear any ruckus coming from inside the house. She slowly started feeling the effects of Eric’s blood on her body. It was becoming easier for her to breathe and she was able to bend her arms without flinching in pain. She rolled over on her side and noticed that James had kicked Chris in the face, knocking him out cold. James then quickly ran towards the back of the house, where he had hidden his truck. Summer slowly sat up, looking around for any sign of James or even Jared.

Meanwhile, inside the Stackhouse home, Eric didn’t see any sign of Sookie. He walked slowly and quickly into the living room and then towards the kitchen. Jared was standing in the kitchen with his arm around Sookie’s neck and pressing a gun against her head.

Jared: Don’t move or I will kill her.

Eric: Then kill her.

Sookie: Eric! (Sounding shocked)

Jared: How did you get back into the house?

Eric: Summer invited me back in. Guess what, you just got outsmarted by a human (with an evil smirk on his face)

Jared: Well I’m not sure she’s even human.

Eric: Let the human go.

Jared: Or what? What are you going to do, blood sucker?

Eric: Running out of insults I see. You’ve over used that one (flashing Jared his fangs)

Jared: Bring it, Vampire! I’m not scared of you.

Eric: You should be, dog.

Jared shoved Sookie off to the side. As she fell to the floor, she looked up and noticed the stances that both Eric and Jared were in. Eric flashed his fangs and charged at Jared, quicker than she could blink. Jared was pushed up against the back door as Eric tried to lunge for his neck. Sookie scrambled on her hands and knees out of the kitchen, because she realized that it was about to get messy in there. As she entered the living room, she quickly bounced up on her feet and walked towards the broken window. She peered out of it and noticed her sister, slowly getting back up onto her feet. She sighed with relief that her sister was alright, but she figured Eric had something to do with that.

Outside the Stackhouse home, Summer was now up on her feet and feeling stronger and pain free. Before she could respond, James had appeared in front of her with a gun pointed at her chest.

James: Go to hell, bitch!!

Before she could react, James placed his finger on the trigger and pressed it. Summer closed her eyes and there was a loud bang. Once her eyes opened, she noticed the back of Chris’ head in front of her. Eric had wrapped his arms around her tightly from behind. She noticed Chris had fallen to he knees and James formed a satisfied grin on his face. Chris then fell over onto his side and she started to feel intense anger and sadness. It was almost overwhelming. She started to scream in anger and tears streamed down both sides of her face. Eric clenched her close to him, so that she wouldn’t do anything stupid in retaliation. James winked at her and ran off towards the back of her house.

Summer: NOOOOO!!!!!!!! Eric, let me go!!! (Struggling in his arms to get free)

There then was a loud engine sound and a black ford truck sped off passed them with an injured Jared sitting in the passenger seat. He had a shirt pressed up against his neck and he flashed Eric an evil stare as they drove off passed them. Eric let go off Summer and she took off towards Chris. She fell to her knees in front of him and noticed the bullet wound in his chest. Blood oozed out from it and Chris stared up at her. He slowly reached up and grabbed her hand. She noticed the blood trickling down from the side of his mouth and she felt as though she was going to loose it.

Summer: I am so sorry (crying)

Chris: It’s not your fault. It’s mine (barely able to speak)

Summer: I’ve treated you like shit. I feel horrible (tears rolling down her face)

Chris: (starting to cough) I love you, Summer. I always will.

Summer: You’re going to be okay (sounding more upset)

Chris’ started coughing and more blood trickled down the side of his mouth. He glanced up at Summer and gave her a faint smile. Suddenly he gasped and his eyes looked lifeless. Tears streamed down both cheeks and she bent down and placed her face on his stomach. She could no longer feel his warmth. He was now cold and stiff. Eric appeared behind her and he could feel her pain. She really did love him and she felt as though she had caused his death. Sookie ran out of the house and towards them. She kneeled down next to Summer and placed her hand on her shoulder for comfort. Summer pulled herself up and latched onto Sookie, laying her head on her shoulder. Sookie rubbed Summer’s back and looked up at Eric. He bent down and scooped up Chris in his arms. Summer watched as Eric walked off with Chris and placed him in the back of his red Ferrari.

The next day, at Lafayette’s place, Sookie opened her eyes and noticed Summer’s back in front of her. They had both shared a full size bed together in Lafayette’s house. Sookie had contacted him about needing a place to stay since their house was a wreck from the previous night. Sookie sat up and noticed that Summer was fast asleep. Quietly she stepped down off the bed and tip toed her way out of the room, closing the door behind her. She strolled into the living room and noticed Lafayette sitting on his couch, with his feet propped up on the coffee table in front of him.

Lafayette: How is she doin’?

Sookie: She’s asleep (making her way over to the couch and sitting down next to him)

Lafayette: That girl just can’t catch a break.

Sookie: She is devastated. I really do think she loved Chris.

Lafayette: Of course she did, sugar. If she didn’t, then she wouldn’t be so grief stricken right now.

Sookie: Thank you so much for letting us stay here.

Lafayette: Hey girl, don’t thank me. You and Summer are always welcomed here.

Sookie: (starting to cry) Thank you.

Lafayette: Aww…Sook, why are you cryin’?

Sookie: She is so sad. I don’t like it when she’s sad, then I feel sad (wiping the tears from her face)

Lafayette: What did you do with Chris’ body anyways?

Sookie: Eric took him. That’s all I know.

Sookie’s cell phone then began to vibrate in her shorts pocket. She pulled out her phone and flipped it open. It was a text message from Ginger.

Lafayette: Who is it from?

Sookie: It’s from Ginger at Fangtasia. She said that me and Summer need to be at the cemetery later tonight.

Lafayette: Sounds like there might be a funeral.

Sookie: Really, you think so?

Lafayette: Oh, hun, I know so.

Sookie: Why would Eric arrange a funeral?

Lafayette: Because he is banging your sister, that’s why.

Sookie: Lafayette! Don’t say that.

Lafayette: Well they are. I’m only stating the facts. I still hates that mother fucker, though.

Sookie: Me, too.

Later that night, at the Bon Temps cemetery, Sookie was wearing a knee-length black dress while Summer was wearing black shorts, and a white tank top. Sookie walked into the cemetery holding onto Summer’s hand tightly. They noticed Eric and Pam standing by a large tree. As they approached them, they noticed a hole in the ground with a wooden casket inside.

Pam: Sorry for your loss, hun (looking at Summer and trying to sound sincere)

Summer: What is this? (A tear rolling down her face)

Eric: A funeral for your friend.

Summer: His family might want to know about this.

Eric: Well I tried contacting someone who knew him, but it seems his pack has disowned him. And apparently he’s an orphan. His parents died when he was a young teen. He’s been on his own.

Sookie: Thank you, Eric. That was kind of you.

They all stood still, with their head downs, looking into the hole. Summer not only felt sad but she felt anger boiling up inside her. She wanted James dead, even if that meant that she had to take care of him herself. Once the funeral ended, Summer and Sookie headed back to Lafayette’s place. Eric decided not to follow. He felt as though Summer needed her space in order to grieve, but he felt as though she was up to something.

Later that night, at Eric’s place, there was a light tapping noise at the front door.

Pam: Now who could that be?

Eric: It’s Summer.

Pam: I’ll head off to bed then. I’m sure you two want your privacy.

Pam then got up off the couch and headed up stairs. Eric opened the front door and Summer stood in front of him. She had blood splatters on her tank top, her legs, her arms, across her face, and all over her hands. Clenched to her side was an axe.

Chapter 6: Home Sweet Home

*Warning: Contains bad and maybe suggestive language*

At Eric’s place, inside his bedroom, Summer lies next to him with her head on his chest, asleep. The black, satin sheets, pulled up around her chest and under her arm. Eric laid on his back, stroking his hand through her hair as slept. She then bolted up, clutching the blanket to her chest.

Eric: What’s wrong? (Sitting up)

Summer: Shit. I almost forgot.

Eric: What did you forget? (Leaning in and slowly kissing her neck)

Summer: Sookie is supposed to come home tonight … or this morning. I don’t actually remember.

Eric: Stay with me (whispering near her ear)

Summer: I can’t. I need to leave, so I can be there when she gets there.

Eric slides his hand behind her neck and pulls her face towards him. His lips pressed down slowly and softly onto hers. They began kissing more quickly and deeply. He then pushed her back down onto the bed, kissing her. His lips moved from her lips, to her chin and down onto her neck. She loved the feel of his cold lips on her skin. But she couldn’t give in because she was determined to get home before Sookie did. Then she realized that the house was a mess the last time she was there. She then sat up, pushing Eric to the side.

Summer: I have to clean before she gets home.

She swings her legs to the side of the bed, still clutching the blanket to her chest and leans down to pick up her pink shorts. She slides her legs into them, one at a time and pulls them up to her waist, buttoning and zipping them. Next she puts on her pink bra, while sitting down on the bed. Eric begins kissing the back of her shoulder, trying to get her attention. She then pulls her black tank over her head and gets up off the bed. Eric grabs her by the waist and pulls her back down onto the bed. He leans over her and begins kissing her. She tries to fight him, but doesn’t really want to. As he moves down to her stomach, he lifts up her tank top and begins kissing her stomach.

Summer: I really have to go (muttering under her breath)

Eric: I know you don’t want to.

She then sits up and pushes him aside, getting on top of him, pinning his arms behind his head and looking down at his face, which has a satisfied grin on it.

Eric: Now this is what I’m talking about (His fangs showing with the devilish grin)

Summer: Behave. I really have to go.

Eric: Well you should have thought about that, before you climbed on top of me.

Summer: Eric, seriously. I have to go.

She gets off of his stomach and steps down off the bed, quickly making her way over to the front door. Before she knew it, Eric was standing in front of her with just his black boxer briefs on.

Summer: Are you fuckin’ serious right now?

Eric: I love it when you get angry.

Summer: Eric, I really have to go. Move out of my way.

Eric: Say, please.

Summer: I wish I had some silver on me right about now.

Eric: Don’t tease.

Summer reached around him and grabbed a hold of the door knob. He leaned into her face and pressed his lips slowly on hers. They kissed for a few minutes and then she bit his lip. He let her go and formed a satisfied grin on his face.

Summer: I figured you would enjoy that.

Eric then stepped out of her way and opened up his bedroom door for her.

Summer: Giving up so soon? (Sarcastically)

Eric: I had my fun. I know you want to see your sister. You haven’t seen her in a week.

Summer: Thank you.

Eric: I’ll drive you home.

Summer: That’s right. You drove.

A little bit later, Eric’s red Ferrari pulled up in front of the Stackhouse home. Eric and Summer got of the car and approached the house. They both walked up the front steps of the porch and slowly approached the front door. As she reached for the knob, she could hear a faint thought in her head that wasn’t her own. She quickly opened the door and rushed inside. Once she stepped into the living room, she noticed that the coffee table was smashed into pieces and the sofa was almost pushed up against the back wall. There was also blood smeared on the back wall and a streak of blood that started at the wall and led into the kitchen. She concentrated to see if she could hear the stray thought again. As her eyes opened, she ran towards the kitchen and flipped on the light switch. As the light lit up the entire kitchen, she noticed Chris sitting, propped up against the back door. His legs straight out in front of him with his shot gun held tightly against his chest. He noticed Summer standing in the kitchen entrance and smiled. Summer approached him and noticed three slash marks across his chest and a bullet wound in his thigh. She rushed to his side and grabbed his hand.

Summer: Are you okay?

Chris: Better, now that you’re here (smiling)

Eric: (rolling his eyes) Please.

Summer: Eric, shut up and help me get him into the living room.

Eric walked over towards them and bent down. He flung Chris’ arm around his shoulder and helped pull him up off the floor. Chris flinched in pain as he tried to get weight on his leg. With one of his arms draped over Eric’s shoulder and the other on Summer, they helped him walk out of the kitchen and into the living room. They then set him down on the couch. Summer looked around the room for something to prop up his injured leg. She noticed the ataman across the room and ran over to it. She grabbed a hold of the ataman and pushed it towards the couch. She lifted up his injured leg, slowly, and placed it onto the ataman.

Summer: What happened?

Chris: Well after you guys left, I thought I had it covered, but I was wrong. I started to drag James’ body into the kitchen, when Jared shifted and attacked me.

Summer: Who shot you then?

Chris: James. He shot me in the leg just as Jared scratched me. That’s why I can’t heal. You have to get that silver bullet out of my leg.

Eric: Let her suck it out. She’s good at that (with an evil grin on his face).

Summer: (smacking Eric on the chest) Don’t be stupid. Go into the kitchen and get a knife and some alcohol to sterilize it.

Eric: Do I look like your servant?

Summer: Do I look like I care? Go!

Eric: You know I like it when you threaten me.

He flashes her a devilish grin and heads off towards the kitchen.

Chris: Really, what do you see in that guy?

Summer: I have no freakin’ idea.

Chris: He seems like a complete douche bag.

Eric: (from inside the kitchen) I heard that!

Chris: I don’t care! (Yelling back)

Summer: There’s a lot of testosterone brewing right now.

Chris: Does he even produce any? He’s a corpse.

Eric: (appearing behind Summer) Wouldn’t you like to know. (Pause) Here.

He hands Summer a knife and a bottle of schnapps. She opens the bottle and pours the liquor over the knife and then pours a little bit over Chris’ wound.

Summer: Shit, we are going to need some towels. Eric, go upstairs and get a towel.

Eric: What if I don’t?

Summer: We don’t have time for games, Eric. You’re quicker than me. You can like run like the flash. Now get a damn towel out of the bathroom.

Eric then sighs and faster than a human can blink, he was already up the stairs.

Chris: You can do better than him, Sum.

Summer: You know I’m damaged goods.

Chris: Why don’t you give me another chance? That bloodsucker doesn’t care about you, like I do.

Eric: (appearing behind Summer again) You really like talking about me when I’m not around, don’t you. Does Summer know you have a crush on me? I am flattered, really.

Chris: Go back to your coffin, you fuckin’ frigid old man.

Summer: Uh, that’s enough boys.

Eric: (laughing) That’s cute. I didn’t know dogs could speak.

Chris tried to stand up, but Summer pushed him back down onto the couch. She could sense the tension in the room.

Summer: Eric, shut the fuck up.

Eric: Fine, lover.

He leaned down and kissed Summer on the side of her cheek, while keeping his eyes on Chris. Chris gave him a hard, cold stare. He wanted to just get up and stake Eric in the chest with a piece of the coffee table that was lying on the floor in front of him. Eric then handed her the towel and slowly backed away from Summer, keeping his eye on Chris. Summer then stuck the knife into Chris’ thigh and tried to dig the bullet out or cause it to pop out. Chris flinched in pain, but he could take the pain better than most humans can or even some Weres. She moved the knife down deeper into his thigh and Chris gripped a hold of the couch cushions. Summer laid the knife on the couch and stuck her two fingers into his thigh to get the bullet to come out. She finally pulled out the silver bullet and dropped it on the floor. Chris felt relieved and the wound on his leg began to seal up, forming new skin and so did the slashes on his chest.

Summer: Where did your friends go anyways? (Wiping her hands off with the towel)

Chris: They’re not my friends anymore. And I have no idea where they went to.

Eric: Maybe you should stay at my place for awhile. Just to be safe.

Chris: She’ll be fine here. They won’t be coming back here.

Eric: Are you sure of that? They seem eager to kill her (looking at summer)

Chris: I’ll deal with them.

Eric: Oh, I see now. You want to stay here and try to protect her. I may be old and dead, but I am a lot smarter and wiser than you, dog.

Chris: You just want her at your place so you two can… (Interrupted)

Summer: Uh, that’s enough. Chris, you’re not staying here and Eric, I’ll be fine here. Sookie will be home anytime now.

There was silence in the room and Summer noticed Eric and Chris staring intensely at one another.

Summer: Eric, go home.

Eric: Later, scruffy.

Chris: Back at ya, crypt keeper.

Summer then pushed Eric towards to front door, trying to stop him from turning around and ripping out Chris’ throat. She opened the door and Eric leaned down and softly kissed her on the lips. Chris watched and folded his arms, in anger. He just didn’t understand what Summer saw in that vampire. Eric then winked at Chris before stepping out onto the porch. Summer closed the door behind him and stepped into the living room.

Summer: Alright, now it’s your turn. Get out.

Chris quickly bounces up on his feet and slowly approaches her.

Chris: Thanks, for helping me out.

Summer: You don’t owe me any thanks. You’re the one that saved me and Eric from those idiots.

Chris: I feel as though it’s my fault. They followed me here.

Summer: You’re not responsible for their actions. I feel sorry for not believing you early on.

Chris: It’s understandable. I wouldn’t have listened to me either.

Summer: Goodnight, Chris.

He tried to lean down to kiss her, but she turned her head away from his face. His head slowly pulled away from her and he grabbed her hand and kissed the top of it. The rejection felt like she had just stabbed him in the heart. His biggest fear had come true; his love was in love with a vampire.

Chris: Goodnight, Sum.

Slowly he walked out of the living room and out the front door. As the front door closed behind him, Summer sighed with relief and glanced around the room. She realized that she had to clean up the mess before Sookie stepped through the front door.

A few hours later, before dawn approached, Summer fell back onto the couch, exosted from cleaning up the living room and the kitchen. The front door then slowly opened and in strolled, Sookie. She stepped inside and set her luggage down. Summer practically jumped off the couch and ran over towards her. She threw her arms around Sookie and gave her a big hug.

Sookie: I’m happy to see you, too.

Summer: You have no idea how happy I am right now.

Sookie: I have a feeling I do.

Summer pulled back away from her twin sister and grabbed her hand, leading her into the living room.

Sookie: Wow, this place looks spotless. You must have been bored since I’ve been away.

Summer: Sometimes when I can’t sleep, I just clean.

Sookie could smell a strong aroma of lemon all around her.

Sookie: Did you just now clean?

Summer: Yep.

Sookie knew something was going on, but she wasn’t going to ask any questions since she was really tired from her long trip to Mississippi. She decided to head upstairs and snooze for awhile before reuniting with her friends at Merlotte’s. Summer also decided to head off to bed, since she had a long day and hadn’t had very much sleep since Sookie was away.

Later that afternoon, Sookie and Summer arrived at Merlotte’s. Sam noticed Sookie and immediately gave her a big embrace. Tara was next in line, along with Lafayette and Arlene.

Sookie: I’m glad I was missed.

Tara: Did your sister tell you all the crazy things that have been happening with her since you were gone?

Sookie: We really haven’t had a chance to talk about everything. Why, what happened?

Tara: Shit, girl, it’s some juicy stuff. It’s almost like a fuckin’ soap opera.

Sookie: Really? I mean, I know she’s keeping something from me, but I didn’t think much of it.

Lafayette: She has herself a man now.

Sookie: What? Are you serious? (Sounding surprised)

Lafayette: You’ll never guess in a million years who it is.

Sookie: It better not be who I think it is.

Lafayette: Well if it’s who I’m thinking of, then you might be right.

Sookie: She can’t stand him. She stated that she “loathed” him. Those were her words exactly.

Lafayette: Well never say never. That’s what I always say.

Sookie then walked over to her sister behind the bar and grabbed a hold of her hand. They then headed off into the ladies room.

Lafayette: Oh, shit. She’s gonna get a tongue lashing now.

Meanwhile, in the ladies room, Summer leaned up against the wall as Sookie stood in front of her. Summer knew that Lafayette had spilled the beans about her new relationship with Eric.

Sookie: What the hell has been going on since I’ve been away?

Summer: You have to be more specific than that.

Sookie: Don’t play games with me, sis. I heard about you and Eric. How long has this been going on for?

Summer: A few days now.

Sookie: And when were you going to tell me this? We’re sisters. Twin sisters to be exact. We always tell each other everything.

Summer: I’m sorry. I was going to tell you.

Sookie: I don’t understand. You told me you loathed him.

Summer: I did.

Sookie: What changed all that?

Summer: I don’t know. I can’t explain it. This is all new to me, okay.

Sookie: Is it because of that blood bond thing?

Summer: It might be part of it. But he recently has just showed me a side of him that I have never seen before. He’s actually not quite that bad.

Sookie: So have you two…you know?

Summer: Sookie (sounding embarrassed)

Sookie: Oh, come on. I told you about me and Bill.

Summer: That’s true. But you didn’t have to tell me. And yes, we have.

Sookie: How was it? (Sounding curious)

Summer: Different. It’s hard to explain really.

Sookie: So is he your boyfriend now?

Summer: I wouldn’t know what to call our relationship right now. So what about you and Bill?

Sookie’s eyes started to water. She tried to hold the tears in, but they started rolling down her cheeks.

Summer: What did that cold bastard do to you? (Hugging Sookie)

Sookie laid her head on Summer’s shoulder and started crying. Summer could sense that Sookie was really upset and wasn’t really ready to talk about her situation with Bill. Summer pulled a few strands of toilet paper off the roll and started wiping the tears from Sookie’s face. She grabbed her sister’s hand and led her out of the bathroom and back into the bar area.

Later that night, after Summer and Sookie had finished their shifts at Merlotte’s, they decided to call it a night and head home so that they can catch up with one another. They waved good-bye to everyone in the bar and headed out the back door. Sookie decided to drive and Summer slid into the passenger seat. The car pulled out of the gravel parking lot and onto the paved road, towards their home.

At their house, Summer decided to go upstairs and change into something comfortable. She and Sookie had decided to make a bag of popcorn and watch some movies together. Summer entered her bedroom and kicked the door closed behind her. She opened up her dresser door and pulled out a pair of red short shorts and a white tank top. As she closed the drawer, she sensed like someone was watching her. She slowly turned around and scanned her bedroom. She didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary so she shrugged and headed out into the hallway and into the bathroom. Sookie was down stairs heating up a bag of pop corn in the microwave in the kitchen.

A few minutes later, Summer walked out of the bathroom with her short shorts on and white tank top. She was barefoot and her hair was up in a pony tail. As she stepped into her room, the door closed behind her. She quickly spun around and seen James standing in front of her.

James: Hello, sweetheart.

He tried to reach out and grab her but she grabbed a hold of his arm and twisted it, and then kneed him in the crotch. She darted passed him and reached out for the door knob. James quickly spun around and wrapped his arms around Summer’s waist. Her legs lifted up in the air and touched the door in front of her. She then pushed her legs off the door, sending her and James stumbling backwards. She struggled a little more in his arms, causing him to move more backwards. His back hit the window ledge and he immediately let go of her. She took off for the door, but James pounced forward and grabbed a hold of her legs, causing her to collapse to the floor. He pulled her towards him and she kicked him in the face. She scurried across the bedroom floor towards the door, but James was determined to get her. He licked the blood from his lips and grabbed a hold of her white tank top. She tried to kick him, but he was prepared for that. He pounced on her bed, causing her to collapse onto her stomach.

Summer: SOOKIE!! GET OUT NOW!! (Yelling as loud as she could)

Downstairs, Sookie opened up the microwave and pulled out the bag of popcorn. She heard a loud scream coming from upstairs and she dropped the popcorn onto the floor. She spun around and noticed Jared standing in the entrance way.

Sookie: Who the hell are you? And what are you doing in my house?

Jared: We’re old friends of your sister.

Sookie: Get the hell out of my house, or I’m calling the police.

Jared: You wouldn’t want to do that.

Sookie: Now why is that?

Jared: Because we ripped out all the phone cords. That’s why.

She took off for the back door, but darted towards her and grabbed her by both arms. He spun her around and led her into the living room. He pushed her down onto her knees, in the middle of the room, his hands resting slightly on both her shoulders.

Jared: James! Are you okay up there?!
